Chyphotidae

These wasps are commonly misidentified as Mutillidae. The family includes the nocturnal subfamily Chyphotinae and the diurnal subfamily Typhoctinae. These nocturnal wasps can be found in large numbers in the desert Southwest of the United States. For more information and current research, see below.
